Tri Gong Hotel This new and lovely Hotel is situated on a quiet lane ("soi" in Thai) near the ancient moat that once protected this ancient city of Chiang Mai, founded over 700 years ago. This location inspired the owners/managers to choose a name reflecting deep Lanna culture. Tri Gong means to beat a reverberating brass gong.

From the Tri Gong Hotel, it's only a short walk to Sompet Market, a major colorful market offering fresh fruits and products of the area. The market is particularly famous for its seasonal fresh cut flowers. Typical of a vibrant market setting, all types of stores in the area offer modern and traditional clothes, travel agencies, restaurants, vehicle rentals, pharmacies, massage centers, spas and gold shops.

Cooking and Asian martial arts are easy to travel to daily. For travelers, this is the ideal area to get to know the real heart of this lovely, capital city of north Thailand.
Three of the city's most revered temples are within walking distance as well as the AUA Library to read a large number of international newspapers. The famous Sunday Walking Street , devoted to over one kilometer of shopping, eating, entertainment and massage on the sidewalks, is nearby at the starting point of Thapae Gate.

Tri Gong
Tri Gong means to beat a reverberating brass gong. Other phrases that are worthwhile to know include the word "Sawadee" followed by the word "Kaa" if You yare female and "Kaap" if you are male. Ka and Kap are "polite terms" and you should use it if you wish to show politeness. The kaa and Kap terms are frequently used in the Thai language. Another good phrase is "Mai Kaa" or "Mai Kap", which is a nice way to say “No thank you”.. "Kapun Kaa/kap" means thank you.
